Education is the most powerful tool we can use to change the world, yet for many brilliant minds, financial barriers turn this fundamental right into an unreachable luxury. At Socasemp Initiative, we believe that a lack of funds should never be the graveyard of a young person’s potential.
This core belief inspired the birth of our latest milestone project in June 2025: TESS (The Educational Scholarship Scheme).
TESS was created with a singular, unwavering mission: to support less privileged, highly intelligent youths who possess the drive to pursue their educational dreams but lack the financial backing to make it happen. Today, we are thrilled to share the journey of this ongoing project and introduce the incredible milestones we have achieved so far.
The Journey of a Thousand Miles: How TESS Began
When we launched TESS, we knew the demand for educational support in Nigeria was immense, but the response we received was still eye-opening.
In August 2025, we put out our first official call for applications. The criteria were strict but necessary to identify students who demonstrated exceptional academic promise: applicants had to be prospective undergraduate students who scored a minimum of 220 in their JAMB examinations and had a verifiable need for financial assistance.
Within weeks, we received over 300 applications from brilliant minds across the country. Reading through their stories, their struggles, and their aspirations was both heartbreaking and deeply inspiring.
A Rigorous and Transparent Selection Process
Selecting the final beneficiaries was a Herculean task for our team. From the pool of over 300 applicants, we narrowed the list down to the top 30 candidates.
In October 2025, these 30 exceptional students were invited for a physical screening and a Computer-Based Test (CBT). We wanted to ensure that the selection process was not only merit-based but completely transparent. Following this rigorous screening, we successfully selected the final 10 outstanding students to pioneer the TESS program.
More Than Just Tuition: A Truly “Fully Funded” Promise
In November 2025, these 10 students officially commenced their educational journeys under the TESS umbrella.
At Socasemp Initiative, we understand that true educational support goes beyond paying for classes. To ensure our scholars can focus 100% on their studies without worrying about basic survival, the TESS scholarship is fully funded. For these 10 students, the scholarship covers:
- Full tuition fees
- All other related school levies
- Safe and comfortable accommodation
- Textbooks and essential study materials
- A monthly stipend for personal upkeep
Most importantly, this is not a one-off grant. The TESS support is guaranteed to last all through their educational journey, from their very first day of class to their graduation.

While they have chosen to remain anonymous, their impact is loudly felt in the lives of our 10 scholars and their families. Our ultimate vision for TESS is to scale this project to accommodate many more students. We want to support youths not just in traditional university courses, but also in specialized skilled areas and vocational training, expanding our reach across Nigeria and eventually, the rest of Africa.
