At Socasemp Initiative, our mission has always been rooted in providing actionable, sustainable pathways for youths and women to achieve financial independence. We believe that true empowerment goes beyond inspiration; it requires equipping women with the tangible tools they need to generate income, support their families, and uplift their local communities.
In December 2023, driven by this vision, we officially launched one of our most direct economic interventions to date: POSEP (The Point Of Sale Empowerment Project).
Here is a look into how POSEP transformed lives, the milestones we achieved, and our vision for the future of this vital program.
What is POSEP?
The Point Of Sale Empowerment Project (POSEP) was designed to tackle a critical barrier to entry for many aspiring female entrepreneurs: start-up capital.
Agency banking (POS businesses) has become a lifeline in local communities, bridging the gap between traditional banking and everyday people. However, acquiring a POS terminal and setting up shop can be financially out of reach for marginalized women. POSEP was created to bridge this gap. Through the program, we provided beneficiaries with 100% free POS terminals, allowing them to immediately start their own financial service businesses right in their own localities.
By removing the cost of the terminal, we gave these women a powerful head start, enabling them to focus entirely on operating their businesses, building a customer base, and earning daily profit.
The Impact: 34 Women, 34 New Businesses
Between December 2023 and March 2024, the impact of POSEP was nothing short of remarkable.
We were able to successfully empower a total of 34 women with free POS terminals. What started as an initiative on paper quickly became 34 active, localized businesses. For these women, receiving a free POS terminal meant more than just starting a job; it meant breaking the cycle of financial dependency.
These 34 beneficiaries transitioned into active earners, providing much-needed financial services to their neighbors while securing the ability to feed their families, pay school fees, and save for the future. The stories of resilience and newfound financial confidence that emerged from these women are a testament to how life-changing a small, targeted intervention can be.
A Temporary Pause and a Call to Action
While the success of POSEP has been incredible, the reality of running high-impact, capital-intensive programs is that they require continuous financial backing. Due to limited funding, we had to make the difficult decision to pause the POSEP initiative in March 2024.
However, we do not see this as the end of the road, merely an intermission. The demand for this program is vast, and the waiting list of women eager to change their financial trajectories through POSEP continues to grow.
Help Us Restart POSEP: Partner With Us
The infrastructure for POSEP is already built, and the proof of concept is clear: it works. Thirty-four women are currently experiencing financial independence because of it. Now, we are looking for compassionate individuals, corporate sponsors, and philanthropic partners to help us resume this project and scale its impact.
Imagine how many more lives we could change with your support. Every donation or partnership brings us one step closer to putting a POS terminal into the hands of a woman who desperately needs that breakthrough.
Let’s keep the momentum going.
