TESS, The Educational Scholarship Scheme, is our scholarship for brilliant students who cannot afford higher education. Education is the most powerful tool we can use to change the world. Yet, for many brilliant minds, financial barriers turn this fundamental right into an unreachable luxury. At Socasemp Initiative, we believe a lack of funds should never be the graveyard of a young person’s potential.
This core belief inspired the birth of TESS, our latest milestone project, in June 2025.
TESS has a singular, unwavering mission. It supports less privileged, highly intelligent youths who have the drive to pursue their educational dreams but lack the financial backing. Today, we are thrilled to share the journey of this ongoing project and the milestones we have achieved so far.
The Journey of a Thousand Miles: How the TESS Scholarship Began
When we launched TESS, we knew the demand for educational support in Nigeria was immense. Even so, the response we received was eye-opening.
In August 2025, we put out our first official call for applications. The criteria were strict but necessary to identify students with exceptional academic promise. Applicants had to be prospective undergraduates with a minimum JAMB score of 220. In addition, they needed a verifiable need for financial assistance.
Within weeks, over 300 applications arrived from brilliant minds across the country. Reading their stories, struggles and aspirations was both heartbreaking and deeply inspiring.
A Rigorous and Transparent Selection Process
Selecting the final beneficiaries was a Herculean task for our team. From the pool of over 300 applicants, we narrowed the list down to the top 30 candidates.
In October 2025, we invited these 30 exceptional students for a physical screening and a Computer-Based Test (CBT). We wanted a selection process that was both merit-based and completely transparent. After this rigorous screening, we selected the final 10 outstanding students to pioneer the TESS program.
More Than Just Tuition: A Truly “Fully Funded” Promise
In November 2025, these 10 students officially began their educational journeys under the TESS umbrella.
At Socasemp Initiative, we understand that true educational support goes beyond paying for classes. Our scholars should focus 100% on their studies without worrying about basic survival. That is why the TESS scholarship is fully funded. For these 10 students, it covers:
- Full tuition fees
- All other related school levies
- Safe and comfortable accommodation
- Textbooks and essential study materials
- A monthly stipend for personal upkeep
Most importantly, this is not a one-off grant. TESS support lasts all through their educational journey, from their very first day of class to their graduation.

We must take a moment to thank the generous private donor organization whose full financial backing kick-started this project. They have chosen to remain anonymous. Nevertheless, our 10 scholars and their families feel their impact loudly. To our silent partners, we say a profound thank you for trusting Socasemp Initiative and investing in these youths.
The Vision Ahead: We Need Your Support
While we celebrate our first 10 scholars, we cannot forget the other applicants. They also had brilliant scores and valid dreams, and the need remains vast.
Our ultimate vision for TESS is to grow this project to support many more students. Beyond traditional university courses, we also want to support specialized skills and vocational training. Over time, we plan to expand our reach across Nigeria and, eventually, the rest of Africa.
But we cannot do it alone.
