SAYLET ETI-OSA 2018 was the first of many SAYLET projects to come. We organized it in partnership with First City Monument Bank to train at least 350 youths and women around the Eti-Osa area of Lagos State. The training ran from 6th August to 8th September, 2018.
Screening and admission
First, we held the screening exercise in July 2018, and it drew a massive turnout. Over 850 individuals registered for the training, and over 700 attended the screening. In the end, we admitted about 414 individuals to the training. By the end of the program, 388 of them graduated.
Courses at SAYLET ETI-OSA 2018
The courses covered Digital Literacy, Website Design, Catering, Music (Vocals/Instrumentation/Performance), Dance and Event Planning/Decoration. Beneficiaries also learned Make-Up, Fine Art, Fashion Creation & Design, and Wig Making.
In addition, beneficiaries took part in a fitness challenge on the first Saturday, as well as several wellness seminars. Guest trainers also came to teach business management and entrepreneurial skills. On top of that, workshops and Socasemp Inspire segments ran throughout the program.
Although the training lasted only 4 weeks, it truly transformed these beneficiaries. Now, they have moved on to a new level of their lives, ready to impact their world. In fact, some of them were already taking orders and making good money during the training.
Exhibition and graduation
Finally, a grand exhibition at the NAPHTALI EVENT CENTER on 8th September, 2018 crowned the training program. Guests graced the occasion and supported the beneficiaries by buying their products. Outstanding beneficiaries received awards, and every graduate went home with a certificate of attendance.
